Once it finishes installing, you're free to begin playing it by clicking or double-clicking the League of Legends app icon. On a Mac, you'll need to click and drag the League of Legends app icon onto the "Applications" folder shortcut before you can follow any instructions. Yes No. Not Helpful 9 Helpful It's easy, though -- just go the the official website, provide your details, handset up your own LOL account. I really don't care. But I guess it looks bad when the other company does and you dont. I actually have no qualms about the live chat.
How do I install League of Legends (LoL) on a computer?
I used it waaaaaaay back then, from like I had no issues then. Idk about now, since they moved to g2. I did use manual patch for the most recent patch. I applied the patch properly, and yes, I did apply it properly I followed the instructions on their site, and the shit I saw on my monitor was the same as in their site. I open up g2. Yeah, they have this mobile app that essentially works like opgg. I say essentially, since it doens't really work.

So you only have one login id for garena and the game itself. The lol client connects to your g2. So without garena, you're not connecting to the lol servers. Did Riot sell the rights to Garena or something? Why would they even do that? Riot, before they were bought out by tencent, licensed the game to garena for publishing in the SEA region. I have an i5 , and a Which is pretty potato by today's standards.

Maybe I should upgrade. I did a clean wipe of my computer to redl everything early january Another redditor messaged me about what Garena was downloading in the background on startup. Apparently every time the client needs an update, it redownloads all of the files it needs to function. Instead of only downloading the changes that the update brings, it redownloads even the things that were unchanged.
So if you look into your garena folder there are a bunch of "2. These folders are the different version of g2.
A classic 5 v 5 multiplayer game
So let's say I'm on G2. However garena rolls out G2. A reasonable person would tell you, well, just download the image asset then apply it to the install folder. So you're left with 2 copies of packet ABC and D. It feels like garena is trying to beat riots meme of being an indie company. Holy shit.
A five year old that knows how to code can make something better. The old garena client had a process running in the background and hid a kernel mode driver on your computer. They refused to ever acknowledge or give an answer when asked what this process does and swept everything under the rug. And now we have Garena 2.

It has a service called GarenaPlatform that is literally always running on your computer. If you stop the process, it will automatically try to start again the next time you boot your PC and you cannot play the game running without the process running as well. It wasn't a cryptominer. I used to play on Taiwan server cryptomining via external hardware was not popular at this time and I would allways see "ggdllhost. And mind you I am a system admin, network security specialist. I've fixed PCs for a living for almost 10 years now.
So every time I restart my PC I notice something very strange. I would have new software installed on my PC. Extensions in Chrome, Programs in my Control Panel. They'd have weird names like MaaPpHelpr, almost English but not with random capitals and sometimes the same letters repeating.
They would install all over my PC and both browsers. For a very long time I did many rootkit scans and checks. One day I realize garena is downloading something without permission via this program. So I monitor the data flow and capture a binary file in transit. So I take the binary file and run it in a VMWare? Wow gee look at that, I get some random extension installed in my Chrome. Screenshot of a similar adware extension.

Basically like that but a few extensions. But only if the grandson is younger than 10 years old. The freshest PeePee will keep you alive until you are I was new to League at the time and did not keep it. Unfortunately I do not keep records from over 2 years old on my work unless it's an ongoing project and this was just expected by any company running in SEA to me. Probably as an incentive to let them keep doing shady things like this.

Holy fuck, I feel terrible for everyone in the regions Garena serves. That kind of activity is utterly shameful. Also, if Garena has a reputation for doing this kind of thing, why has Riot not taken action? It's a detriment to a huge and rapidly growing section of their playerbase, and Riot has always kind of marketed themselves as a company who is very in-tune with their community. Because Riot basically wholesale sold the rights to League over there. It was the only way in their minds to get League off the ground at the time because back then League wasn't the mammoth it is today.
Unfortunately that decision is now one that pains many SEA players I mean sure, I knew the standard in terms of general quality of life is quite high in Europe compared to some other places, but I thought that international operated gaming services are the same whereever you access them from.
